Nusa Dua, InfoPublik – World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2018 opening ceremony held at Plenary Hall, Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Bali, Wednesday, on 7 November 2018 witnessed a surprise from Head of Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy Triawan Munaf who managed to hypnotize around 1500 audience attending the event with his performance.

"Our youths are the main source of creative energy to make the world a better place," said Triawan, taking his tie and jackets off, and rolling up his sleeve.

"So let us take our ties and jackets off. We must work together to reach new breakthroughs that will rock the world!" He then raised his hand and stomped his feet while singing the song "We Will Rock You".

Shortly after, he invited Dewa Bujana, Andy Riff, and Gerald Situmorang to sing "We Will Rock You". All audiences clapped their hands and sang together. Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Rudiantara also took the stage to sing along.

Atmosphere of the opening ceremony was lively. The audience stood up to give their standing ovation after Triawan Munaf and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi delivered their remarks consecutively.

On his remark, Triawan stated that creative economy has provided significant contribution to global growth. In 2015, it generated at least $2.2250 billion and employed 29.5 million jobs. That is equivalent to 3% of world GDP, and 1% of the world's active population.

"At the same time technology has become an enabler for creative economy that made this industry more inclusive. Technology also allows people from all walks of life to participate in the value chain and break down borders," he said.

On the same occasion, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi added that as a Minister, the three top priorities that always on her mind is, firstly: cooperation, secondly, cooperation, and thirdly cooperation. Foreign Affairs Ministry’s support in this event is not to define nor defend what creative economy is but to share ideas, to collaborate, to nurture the development of global creative economy, global collaboration needed to foster the attainment of the SDGs, and people’s welfare.

"The principle is that no one left behind," Retno said.

The opening performance of WCCE has encouraged the participants to collaborate with each other in building global creative economy.
