Nusa Dua, InfoPublik - Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy (Bekraf) signed a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with local governments, other countries, and international organizations at the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) event, in Plenary hall of Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Wednesday (11/7). These agreements were made to strengthen both national and global creative economy ecosystem.

The regional governments that have signed MoUs with Bekraf include Bali Province, West Java Province, Gianyar Regency, Denpasar City Government, Pekanbaru City Government, Banjarbaru City Government, and Deliserdang Regency Government.

Bekraf also signed an MoU with Denmark, and a number of international organizations including Cendana Malaysia, and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

According to Bekraf Head Triawan Munaf, the cooperation will serve as the foundation for the development of the creative economy through coordination and synergy in the implementation of each relevant parties' duties and authorities.

"Each region has potential to be developed. These MoUs serve as means to develop the regional creative economy," Triawan said.

He explained that some regions already recognized their potential, on the other hand, other regions still need help to identify their potentials. One of the ways to help these regions to recognize their potentials is by implementing programs initiated by Bekraf. These programs include Coding Mom, a women empowerment program; get funded, financing guidance on start-up; Bekraf financial club, opening access to finance for creative economy actors; and professional certification and Intellectual Property Rights in the creative economy.

Triawan is optimistic that the creative economy will become the future of global economy. This is indicated by the performance of the national creative economy whose growth currently reaches more than Rp100 trillion every year.

"Therefore, Indonesia is confident to come forward to become global economy leader by convening the WCCE," Triawan said.

The World Conference on Cretive Economy (WCCE) is the first international-level conference on creative economy. The event held at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) on 6-8 November carries the theme Inclusively Creative by raising five main issues, namely social cohesion, regulation, marketing, ecosystems, and financing of the creative industry. The event is attended by delegates from more than 30 countries and around 1,500 participants. WCCE will also formulate Bali Declaration to be proposed to the UN General Assembly, next year. This is expected to further strengthen the ecosystem and support the development of the world's creative economy which is embarking to a new era. (Bekraf)
