Jakarta, InfoPublik – Research, Technology, and Higher Education Minister Mohamad Nasir conveyed a special message to university leaders about campus activities during Ramadan to anticipate the threat of radicalism and intolerance.

"The ministry and university leaders continue to prevent the growing of radicalism in campus," said Nasir at the coordination meeting of state universities’ financial management in Jakarta on Wednesday (5/16).

Minister Nasir wanted the campus to become the source of peace as well as the science center. "In the month of Ramadan, I urge preachers to give sermons of tolerance and peace at their campus," he said.

“I hope intolerance and radicalism will not grow in campuses. Lecturers or students who spread out intolerance will be given warning and sanction."

He revealed that he would coordinate with the State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry to prepare sanction against the civil servants involved in radical activities.

He also urged university rectors to monitor campus organizations that have the potential to spread radicalism. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
