Batam Becomes Main Entry for Foreign Tourists

Batam, InfoPublik – Indonesia's city of Batam’s accessibility to other regions in the country serves as an effective asset to increase foreign tourist arrival to the City. From Batam, tourists can continue their trip to other areas in the country.

 

"We can promote tourism destinations to foreign tourists who are visiting Batam. We have Mt. Singgalang and Mt. Merapi for those who like mountain, Lake Toba in North Sumatra, and elephants in Lampung" said head of Batam Tourism and Culture Office Yusfa Hendri, Monday (21/3).

 

The opportunity to realise Yusfa’s determination to make Batam the main point of entry for foreign tourist arrival in western Indonesia is widely open. According to him, currently there are many direct flights from Batam to various regions in Indonesia.

 

This strategy can also be an effective way to promote other tourist destinations in Indonesia. Tourists can visit other provinces through Batam. "We are determined to make Batam a gateway of western part of Indonesia," he explained.

 

If we can maximize this potential, he continued, it is not impossible for Batam to be the largest contributor of foreign Tourists to Indonesia, better than Jakarta and Bali.
