Garuda Indonesia, KTO join hands to boost tourist passengers

Jakarta, InfoPublik - The national airline Garuda Indonesia and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of Joint Promotion Program. This MoU is a tourism cooperation program between Garuda Indonesia and KTO to raise the number of tourists in both countries.

The MoU signing was done by Garuda Indonesia marketing vice president Selfie Dewiyanti and KTO president Jung Chang Soo at the Garuda City Center auditorium in Cengkareng, Monday (10/17).

Selfie said that the number of Indonesian tourists visited Korea increases every year and also believed that the cooperation will benefit both parties. 

"In the first semester of 2016, Garuda Indonesia had successfully flown 71,349 passengers from Indonesia to South Korea, and we are certain that at the end of the year, the number will continue to increase and exceed last year’s total,” she said. 

Meanwhile, KTO president Jung Chang Soo expressed his enthusiasm about cooperating with a world-class five-star airline like Garuda Indonesia and hoped that this cooperation will boost Indonesian tourists’ visit to South Korea.

"Based on our data, the number of Indonesians visited South Korea reached 132,024 people or increased by 37.5 percent in the first semester of 2016. The number increased significantly compared to the first semester of 2015. We are very optimistic about working with Garuda Indonesia and looking forward to have other cooperation in future years," he said.

Through this partnership, Garuda Indonesia loyal customers will be able to fly to Seoul easily, whether from Jakarta or Bali. The airline also offers special fares and interesting travel packages in South Korea.

In addition, KTO will provide discount coupons that can be used by Garuda Indonesia loyal customers in South Korea’s tourism destinations. Garuda Indonesia provides flights to Seoul from Jakarta and Bali using Airbus 330-300 jets with the capacity of 287 seats that consists of 24 business-class’ super diamond seats and 263 economy-class seats.

The Jakarta to Seoul roundtrip flight is available once a day with departure time at 11:15 p.m. local time and will arrive in Seoul at 08:30 a.m. local time. Meanwhile, flying from Seoul to Jakarta is scheduled at 10:35 a.m. and will arrive in Jakarta at 3:30 p.m.

The Denpasar to Seoul roundtrip flight is available six times a week (except Wednesday) with departure time at 1:45 a.m. and will arrive in Seoul at 09:45 a.m. Then, flight from Seoul to Denpasar is scheduled at 12 p.m. and will arrive in Denpasar at 6 p.m. (Translator: Rina Alexandra, Photo: Antara)
