Tourism Ministry Encourages Hotel and Restaurant HR in Indonesia to Promote Halal Tourism

Jakarta, InfoPublik - Tourism Ministry encourages Human Resources (HR) in tourism sector that engages in hotel and restaurant industry in Indonesia to develop halal tourism.

Tourism Ministry’s Head of Halal Tourism Acceleration Team, Anang Sutono in Jakarta, Sunday (5/19) said that his team held the Certificate in Halal Tourism (Sector) Training and Accreditation Workshop for such purpose.

The event was held by the Deputy Assistant of Tourism HR Development and Institutional Relations with Halal Tourism Acceleration Team of the Tourism Ministry at Hotel Sofyan Cut Meutia, Jakarta, on May 17-19, 2019. The workshop was attended by 60 business players from hotel and restaurant sector.

He said that the activity was carried out as one of the methods to increase the capacity of halal tourism HR through competency certification.

In addition, as an extension of amenities services, tourist attraction, and accessibility, halal tourism needs to accommodate and fulfill Muslim tourists’ experience, needs, and preferences.

“Therefore, halal tourism personnel in Indonesia shall have the capacity with global standard in quality. In addition, their quantity should be able to fulfill the increasing industry’s needs,” said Anang.

The workshop features a number of speakers including the CEO of CrescentRating Singapore, Fazal Bahardeen, and Barkathunnisha Abu Bakar from Murdoch University Singapore as well as Elevated Consultancy and Training.

Anang also said that this event is an implementation of the Ministry’s commitment to improve Indonesia’s tourism competitiveness in global level, particularly in the context of halal tourism.

“Various activities of this type of halal tourism development are expected to continue making Indonesia as a world class destination for halal tourism,” said Anang.
