Jakarta, InfoPublik – A healthy investment climate requires healthy regulatory support. It should not be hindered by poor bureaucratic services.

"The President’s direction is to have synergy between the central and regional governments in revising and eliminating conflicting regulations and long bureaucracy," said Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, in his written statement on Saturday (1/27).

According to him, the head of state wants the center and regional govenment to work together.

"For the time being, more than 3,000 regulations have been cut. They are regulations that hinder investment. It has been coordinated with the local government," he explained.

He asserted, if it takes days or even weeks to issue a permit, it is certainly not good.

How can we compete with other countries? Vietnam and Cambodia, for instance, they implement practical and efficient services," he added. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
