President Joko Widodo Receives US State Secretary Mike Pompeo at Bogor Palace

Jakarta, InfoPublik—President Joko Widodo received US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java province, on Thursday (29/10).

Pompeo arrived at the Bogor Palace at 11.00 am local time and was greeted by Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi. Pompeo was later received by President Joko Widodo for a brief conversation at the veranda of the Bogor Presidential Palace before continuing to the bilateral meeting.

“Your visit in the midst of the pandemic demonstrates the important meaning of the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the US,” the President said on the meeting.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, mutual visits between officials of both countries remain intensive. “Mutual visits between our officials were quite intensive, and I may say, the most intensive ones,” he added.

Before meeting President Joko Widodo at the Bogor Palace, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has prior meeting with Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi.
